Pack fit for small frame folks?

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and found my way here looking for a pack for my wife. She is 5'3" and 110lb - so fairly small frame. I haven't measured her torso length yet, but she typically only fits women-specific packs. Problem with these are they suck for packing elk meat, so I want to get her something decent for backpack trips and meat hauling.

My question to those of you who have had experience with the paradox harness, belt, frame, how does this pack fit smaller folks? I didn't see any option to order different size shoulder harness, so have concerns that it would be way too long for her if its sized to fit an average man. I'm assuming the small belt might work ok.

thanks in advance.

To be more clear, are the shoulder straps sized so that it will fit a very slender upper body w/out bottoming out the adjustment straps? When she's tried on standard sized hunting packs, the shoulder straps are tightened all the way down and the fit is way too large. My guess is that she'd fit a Mystery Ranch Small yoke/waist belt but I hesitate putting her in that heavy of a setup.

This is a tough deal to find a good pack for her as you can't just go try on any of the better pack options at your local sportsman's warehouse...

I don't think harness width will be a problem but length might be. My son has worn one and it has worked and I guess he is similar dinensions. We can do limited customizing on the harness for a custom charge. That would be basically taking an inch or two of the strap length

My wife is 5'5" and uses the standard harness. She is very sensitive to weight on her shoulders and so adjusts the harness so that it's lifted several inches above the top of her shoulders.

It looks like a terrible fit to be honest, but every time I try to "fix it" for her she fusses at me for messing up her pack.

Wives are awesome.

great, thanks for the info. I'll show her the options and do some detailed measurements, and see which way she wants to go.
