Another question,

Can the Peregrine bag be used frameless, with the shoulder straps that are used on the Day Talon?

I've been mulling a compression panel for non-hunting season. I was considering between the base talon and day talon, now the Peregrine has my attention also.

Thanks, Shane

It does not have a harness connection, although one could be added simply. I have wanted to test one myself, however, my personal feeling is it is on the edge size wise of how far belt less / frameless could go. The Day Talon, on the other hand , I think works very well and is sized real nice for a variety of activities.

Good info. The day talon is probably a better option for what I want.

My peregrine arrived yesterday. I've been very interested in this bag and info is pretty slim, so I figured I'd provide a few shots and a little context to anyone else considering it.

This is my first seek outside bag and frame, so I'm new to the whole system. I'm a fairly lightweight backpacker but I've struggled to find a backpack that carries a large bear canister well. I've used several packs that can carry one, but I've never found one that's actually comfortable when doing so. Plus the can has to be packed in the bag last, which means removing it anytime I need to get something else from the bag. The can is always such a hassle.

The peregrine caught my eye because it's big enough for my backpacking kit and I was optimistic that I could mount the bear can directly to the frame below the bag. That way I can access the can and the pack contents independently of one another. This setup will certainly be heavier than most lightweight packs, but I've come to value efficiency over saving ounces.

Turns out the can fits perfectly when using the 4" frame extensions.

The pack stands upright on its own, balanced on the frame and the bear can. The canister is just slightly wider than the frame itself, so the pack will also stand on its side with ease. This means I can turn the pack on its side to access the can or use it as a stool/table without removing it from the frame. Handy!

The side pockets are generously sized; I can fit a full 2L evernew bottle. In this picture, the other pocket is holding my shelter setup.

The guide slate fabric is tough, I suspect it will be far tougher than I'll require and I'm slightly regretting not going with the lighter multicam. I ordered a precipice in multicam, so I'll be able to compare the two fabrics side-by-side when that one arrives.

this is awesome, thanks! This is the first picture that I can see how this pack might attach higher with this new Revo setup. Looks good

Kevin,

In the picture of you walking around with the Peregrine (and your dog!), do you remember what height extensions you are running? Is the load shelf loose or tight against the pack? I can't tell if there is a gap underneath the pack or not, although, it looks like you are running it low...when I do that I get a ton of slack in the load shelf.

And just to be sure, you don't have a talon on in that pick do you?

I am struggling with finding a frame height and then pack height on the frame that I like for the Peregrine. Ideally I'd like to run a talon with it too just becuase I like the extra organization, but I'd be happy if I could get a setup I like w/o it even.

No idea but probably 24 height as I usually use that unless I anticipate a real load . Send us a photo we'd be happy to give advice . Send to our ticket please
