Paradox + kayak

Postby alukban » Fri Apr 25, 2014 11:51 am

I need to get at least 4 posts to get a PM from a contest so...

I carried a skin on frame boat I made a while ago on the Paradox frame/suspension. I thought I would share.

I made it over a decade and a half ago now. It's a "retrieval boat" type that was used in the arctic when they switched to guns. You hunt water edges and would have to retrieve whatever you shot before it sank into the water.

It's a sewn-on ballistic nylon skin coated with water based polyurethane over a frame made of Sitka spruce and cedar. It's quite light at about 29 lbs. The length is 9' 9" with a 25" beam.

It is easily carried by the Paradox pack by planting its center of gravity in the middle of the frame :)

Very cool alukban. Kayak building sounds like a fun project.
