We finally took the LBO base + tarp + vestibule (old version) in addition with the tailor made nest (see above).
With the nest we lose some space but the 5 of us can fit in and we enter through the vestibule where backpack are stored.
We had some heavy rain in Nicaragua (Canyon de Somoto) for our first nights and experienced some rain inside , principally under the stove jack flap and reinforcement loops (don't know the name in English) ... seam sealing was not done at these locations...
Then I seam sealed it but we still get drops when raining. To sleep dry I hung our frogg togg poncho above the nest ... also rain was entering from vestibule top.
The night was quite windy (Playa de la flor in Nicaragua) but the tent stood well despited being pitched with rock (sand)
So when we went to sleep at Machu Picchu feet , I hanged the ponchos right away and we had some good nights...I am a bit disappointed to get wet inside the tent but at least we found a solution (and with frog togg ponchos it is great with condensation because the material is perspiring).
Our carbon poles have been lost (stolen?) , we are in Brazil and will fly to Chile coming sunday where we intend to camp for 2 weeks. I cannot find pole of such size (163cm) here and cannot get it from US. What to use instead (we have no walking sticks) ? pvc pipe, bamboo or other wood stick? Anyone has used it (or another solution)?
I could not upload pics since they are on my laptop not on a public server...Statistics: Posted by Nemo74 — Thu Jan 18, 2018 9:01 am
